The life of our school cannot be described by the formal curriculum. There is usually a terrific sense of anticipation and enthusiasm as excursion groups regularly pass through the foyer.
High spots in the year are eagerly planned. As a relatively new school there are always unexpected challenges and frequent visitors. There is a sense of freshness and vibrancy as the learning flows in and out of the classroom and in and out of the school. Doing things together creates real appreciation of each other.
We are an outward-looking school and seek opportunities for children to be involved in activities that serve the wider community.
The young people look forward to:
- A weekend walking in the Lake District.
- A village study in Wales.
- A cultural exchange experience with a Dutch school.
- A trip to France.
- A week at an adventure centre in Wales.
- A day in London and a visit to the Houses of Parliament.
- Field trips to Martin Mere Wildfowl Centre, Chester Zoo, local farms, Ainsdale nature reserve, the Sefton coast, the Wild Flower Centre, the Blue Planet Aquarium.
- Educational visits to Science, Maritime and History museums, historic buildings such as Speke Hall and the Anglican Cathedral, Wigan Pier and art galleries.
- Swimming Gala, Sports Day, the Expressive Arts evening and parties.
- Art, chess, music and sports clubs and student-led Christian Union.
- Events that support Operation Christmas Child, Andaman Island tsunami relief, Fair Trade, Tear Fund projects, Africa Mercy Ships, Ameva school in Zimbabwe and local situations such as a residential care home for the elderly.
- Social-communication club.
