Our intention is to facilitate open access to Christian education. The school currently caters for a wide variety of special needs, actively promotes an inclusive ethos and maintains good working relationships with a variety of educational and health service agencies.
Unfortunately, the provision for children who require extra resources is limited by various factors:
-
The need to keep a comprehensive intake and maintain class balance.
-
The need to prioritise Christian families who have made a long-term commitment to the school
-
The lack of any direct funding from central or local government.
-
The need for parents to secure resources and funding additional to the school fee (set at a minimum).
-
Some building restrictions.
Additional Learning and Pastoral Support (ALPS)
Our current level of inclusion is only possible by CFS funding a key member of staff for one day a week. This senior teacher co-ordinates a range of parent-led initiatives within the ALPS department. Provision comes from:
- Bursaries awarded by LEAs or Churches applied for by parents.
- LEA funding for Learning Support Assistants awarded to the child.
- Additional financial contribution from parents or sponsorship from, family or friends.
- Services from health authorities and secured by parents.
- Parent employment of specialists who will assess and teach 1:1 where necessary.
- A consortium of parents who contribute towards extra teaching support and administration within a particular class
