Income related surcharge

We do not receive funding from the government or any other external body but the fees payable at the school are significantly lower than most other independent schools. This is because the staff and supporters of the school wish to give maximum opportunity to as many families as possible to bring their children to the school. Staff in particular contribute significantly by taking a substantially lower wage than they would enjoy in a state school.

In the interests of honouring this stand we believe it is reasonable for families with higher incomes (who could therefore afford to pay more) should consider making additional monthly payments. When your child joins the school you are requested to provide brief details about your joint parental income. If your joint gross income falls within the brackets set out in the table below then a suggested donation in the form an income related supplement will be added to your direct debit. This is a voluntary payment and if you do not wish make it or you wish to pay a different amount please let us know at any time and we will amend the direct debit amount.

Where an income in a higher bracket is made up solely or mainly from one parent only we appreciate that this is somewhat less tax efficient and the suggested supplement in most cases will therefore be revised downwards. We also fully appreciate that for the self employed your net income can vary considerably from year to year. Please contact the Bursar’s office if you wish to discuss these issues further.
