Exam Results 2009
The staff and Governors congratulate Y11 students on their hard work and wish them every success in their apprenticeships, sixth forms, colleges or employment. Governors also express their appreciation for the dedication of their teachers.
An interpretation of GCSE statistics issued from the exam board in August 2009. These statistics include the RS results for this cohort taken one year early.
- 82% gained 5 or more GCSE A*- C grades.
- 77% gained A* - C grades including both English and Mathematics. We are particularly pleased that achievement in English and Mathematics has risen steadily over the past few years.
- 100% gained A*-C grades in Geography, French, and History. We had one candidate taking Spanish . She achieved A*.
- Pupils who gained straight A* and A grades made up 22% of the cohort. 71% gained high grades A* - B.
- The exam board gave a special commendation to the achievement of boys taking Expressive Arts this year.
- ECDL candidates passed all modules, many with very high scores. The 8th module makes this a GCSE equivalent. Those taking Entry level exams all obtained the highest level (3). Subjects include Health and Safety at Work, History, RS, English, Mathematics and Science.
As a non-selective school with only one Y11 class, our statistics may show quite a swing from year to year, influenced by the ability range of the particular class.

NB. We are flexible about allowing pupils to spend an extra year in Lower or Middle schools if appropriate. This can affect the perceived achievements of a cohort in Upper school. When government statistics are based on all those aged 15 rather than those in Y11 sitting GCSEs, the figures include any who are aged 15 but still in Y10 not sitting GCSE this year. This may make official statistics appear lower than is really the case.
