Every member of our team here at CFS has a vital role in caring for our children, both educationally and spiritually. Our team works hand in hand with our families, coming together to nurture and support our pupils to become the best they can possibly be, through Christian discipleship in the context of a loving community.

Mrs R Boulton - Head Teacher - BA Hons, PGCE

Rachel has been involved with CFS for over 25 years in various capacities, and was appointed by the Governors as Head Teacher in July 2025. In her role she oversees everything educational in the school. Her passion is to equip young people with all they need to be servant-hearted agents of change in society. Rachel invests in delivering a broad range of the curriculum, and is particularly interested in Business Studies, Technology, and creating safe spaces for all children to thrive.

Mr J G Sharples - Principal

Graham has been involved with CFS for 20 years in a number of roles from Chair of Governors, Finance, Technology, and Operations. His background is in consulting, banking, programme management and commercial management. In his current role he oversees all the non-educational aspects of CFS and is particularly focussed on driving change and sustainability.

Mrs P Virr - Deputy Head - BA Hons

Paula has been part of CFS for 13 years, serving as a classroom teacher and Joint Head of Middle School before becoming Deputy Head. She works closely with the Head Teacher and Senior Leadership Team to support the school’s mission, ensure the smooth running of daily school life, and act as a strategic partner and trusted adviser. Paula is passionate about shaping teaching and learning that engages pupils creatively and equips them to examine the world through the lens of God’s Big Story, preparing them for life and mission beyond school.

Mr M Howard - Business Manager - CIOH, Assoc RICS, BSc (QTS)

Mike has been involved with CFS since the School began, including a part-time teaching role for 2 years (Business Studies GCSE), but most significantly, as a parent with all of his children attending.  Mike reconnected with CFS (September 2023) in the role of Business Manager, drawing on his management background in estates, health & safety and overall infrastructure.

Mr M Farrington - Head of Upper School  - BA Comb Hons, PGCE

Mike has been teaching at CFS since 2008 and is responsible for Religious Studies and for English Language and Literature at GCSE level. Mike has directed a number of Upper School drama productions. At the heart of Mike’s motivation, whether in the context of school plays, academic studies or school life in general, is the desire to see young people grow in their personal relationship with and experience of God. For a number of years Mike has carried the role of Assistant Head responsible for Prayer and Worship. In 2024 Mike was appointed Head of Upper School. One of his great joys is to see young people released into leadership among their peers, becoming disciple-making disciples of Christ.

Mrs V Cooke - Assistant Head of Upper School - BA

Vicky has been part of the CFS community since 2018. Her experience includes event management, children’s and youth ministry, and several years in the ALPS team, supporting pupils’ personal and academic development. She is committed to helping students recognise their strengths, grow in confidence, and understand who they are in Christ, guiding them to serve Him in their daily lives. Vicky currently serves as Assistant Head of Upper School, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, and a member of the ALPS team. She also teaches PSHME to Years 7–11, helping students navigate adolescence and develop resilience, confidence, and character.

Mrs S Sharples - Head of Middle School - BA, PGCE

Steph has been involved with CFS for 20 years in various capacities, first as a parent and then on staff from 2013. Her roles include Head of Middle School, Year 6, 7 & 8  English teacher and member of the Safeguarding team. In her role as Head of Middle School she oversees the educational, social, spiritual and pastoral life of Middle School. Her heart is to see children and young people thrive in their academics, their friendships and their faith. She is passionate about Middle School being an environment where pupils are able to flourish through their pre-teen and teenage years as they grow to understand their great worth and potential.

Mrs S Lyons - Assistant Head of Middle School - BA, MA, PGCE

Suzanne has been a part of the CFS community since 2012, initially as a parent and later as a member of staff. With prior experience teaching in state secondary schools, she joined the school to teach Art and Design. She holds a strong belief in the value of independent education, particularly its ability to foster creativity and allow pupils to explore their individual giftings. In her role as Assistant Head of Middle School, Suzanne is dedicated to providing pastoral support, rooted in Christian values, helping pupils thrive both academically and socially, while also encouraging them to grow in their Christian faith.

Mrs S Gray - Head of Lower School & EYFS - BA Hons, PGCE

Sarah has been part of the CFS community since 2008, as a parent of three children who have all attended the school. She has served in various roles, including as a Lower School teacher and, more recently, as Head of EYFS and Lower School. Sarah deeply values the independent education sector and the school’s Christian ethos, and she is passionate about supporting families in their Christian parenting.

Miss C Dowrick - Assistant Head of Lower School - B Ed Hons

Clare has been part of the CFS community for over 13 years, serving as a Lower School Class Teacher and as a member of the Lower School Leadership Team for the past eight years. She is actively involved in developing the Christ-centred curriculum within the Lower School and places great importance on the pastoral care of both staff and pupils. Clare deeply values the sense of community and the shared times of worship at CFS.
