Governors
The Board of Governors of Christian Fellowship School makes decisions that are in the best interests of the children. It is responsible for the conduct of the school and aims to promote high standards of educational achievement. Governors bring their own gifting, knowledge and skills to the role, contributing to the growth and development of the school and seeing tangible improvements in the attainment and wellbeing of the children. The Board of Governors is the school’s accountable body and as such it:
- provides strategic direction of the school by establishing a vision and setting the purpose and aims of the school within an agreed policy framework
- appoints and appraises the Head Teacher and Principal, and agrees the school’s development plan
- monitors and evaluates the work of the school by reviewing the performance of the Head Teacher, the effectiveness of the policy framework, progress towards targets, and the effectiveness of the school improvement strategy
- signs off the self-evaluation process and responds to inspection reports as necessary
- provides operational leadership support.
In addition, it holds the Head Teacher and Principal to account for the performance of the school and ensures that parents are fully involved, consulted and informed as appropriate through the Parent Collaborative. In order to achieve this, Governors gain knowledge of how the school operates through training, by attending meetings, visiting the school during the school day, and by building relationships through the Parent Collaborative.
Governors work together as a team under the leadership of the Co-Chairs of the Governing Body, each having a unique role.
A Charitable Trust "Christian Fellowship School Trust" is ultimately responsible for the school as the Proprietor. There is also an associated company limited by guarantee.
Each of the Trustees are also Directors of the Limited Company.
The Head Teacher and Principal attend Governors meetings in a reporting and advisory role, but are not Governors.
Mr. Mark Lewis

Governor - appointed by Trustees June 2020
Mark has been involved with CFS for 17 years. His background is as a Chartered Electrical Engineer within various industry sectors, including health, education and industrial. Currently, he is involved in the leadership of one of the CFS partner churches and has previously advised on infrastructure matters within the school.
Mr. Geoff Millington
Co-Chair - appointed by Trustees May 2025
Curriculum, Teaching and Learning - appointed by Trustees September 2021
Geoff taught in primary schools for 10 years before founding and growing a successful education technology business. He has been involved in the school as a parent since 2016 and governor since 2021 ,before being appointed Co-Chair in 2025. In this role he enjoys working with a highly talented team of Governors and leaders to ensure that the school continues to fulfil its Vision.
Mrs Paula Virr
Head Teacher - appointed by Trustees September 2026.
Paula has been involved with CFS for 13 years and prior to becoming Head Teacher she was the Deputy Head. Previously she has been a classroom teacher and Joint Head of Middle School. She works closely with the Senior Leadership Team to support the school’s mission, ensure the smooth running of daily school life. Paula is passionate about shaping teaching and learning that engages pupils creatively and equips them to examine the world through the lens of God’s Big Story, preparing them for life and mission beyond school.
Mr Mark Williams
Marketing & Strategy - appointed by Trustees May 2024
Mark joined the board of governors in 2024, serving briefly as Interim Vice Chair during a transition period and is now covering cybersecurity, strategy and marketing. Professionally, Mark has worked for Digital Agencies in Product and Strategy for over ten years and is a firm believer in Christ-centred education.
Dr Libby Chamberlain BSc, DClinPsy
SEND - appointed by Trustees November 2023
She also works as the Lead Clinical Psychologist for the Specialist Perinatal Mental Health team in Liverpool and Sefton. Prior to this, she worked in CAMHS. In her governing role she provides a consultative space for SEND, Mental Health and Wellbeing support staff, and the shaping and implementation of school policies and procedures in light of her training and experience.
Mr Nathan Browne
Safeguarding - appointed by Trustees April 2025
Nathan Browne joined the board of Governors in 2025 as Safeguarding Governor. Nathan has had a variety of roles including prison officer, Aldi store manager and PE & English teacher in China. He currently works in hostels supporting offenders in the community in the Liverpool and Cheshire area. He has over 20 years of experience of working in a voluntary capacity with children and young people. Nathan has two children at CFS and is looking forward to serving the school in this role.
