Ferry Trip
October 2023
Year Two had a fun way to end their term by going on a ferry ride to learn more about "Rivers," the topic they've been studying. The children had a great time spotting famous landmarks along the river, which they've been learning about in Geography and Art lessons. They also got to connect what they've learned about God's great plan for the water cycle to a real river, the River Mersey, and they waved towards the Irish Sea. After that, they visited the 'Museum of Liverpool,' and the children really enjoyed a workshop called 'Little Liverpool.' In this workshop, they used nets to pick up things that can harm the river and had a lot of fun sailing tiny boats on the River Mersey. This trip made their lessons come alive and helped them appreciate rivers and how they work.
Rivers
September/October 2023
This term Year Two have been learning all about Rivers. The children had fun putting photos of the Liverpool landmarks in the correct place along the River Mersey. Then they learnt that maps have a key which uses symbols to represent landmarks. Finally the children consolidated what they had learnt by labelling their own maps.
Bible Explorers
September 2023
This term Year Two have been learning about the story of Abraham and in particular God's promise to Abraham to "give him as many descendants as the stars in the sky". The children decorated cakes with 100s and 1000s to represent the stars and then tried to count them! Later in the term the children went on a treasure hunt to find key Bible verses in the Bible containing God's promises which were then displayed on stars in the sky.
