Lockdown provision...
We would like to confirm that CFS is closed for most pupils until after February half term at the earliest. This is in line with the National Lockdown: Stay At Home, which was announced on 4th January by the government. Schools have now received further specific guidance setting out the reasons for school closure across the country for both primary and secondary schools.
At CFS, we will be offering onsite education at school for children of key workers, critical workers and those who have an EHC Plans in place. We are also extending this offer to some children on our ALPS (Additional Learning and Pastoral Support) register.
We emailed you about this on 4th January and have had quite a number of requests. We would like to confirm that we will be running several bubbles across the school to accommodate this need, whilst also providing home learning for everyone else. We are currently working through our plans and will be in touch with families concerned in the next couple of days. We can confirm that this provision will begin from Monday 11th January - 9am to 2pm every day. Some of the bubbles are almost at full capacity already, so we may be unable to accommodate further requests from families.
For the rest of this week, Lower School already have their home learning packs. For Upper and Middle School, Google Classroom will be used throughout this half-term to set work for all subject classes. From 6th to 8th January there may not be as many Google Meet sessions, so as to allow teachers time to get textbooks, exercise books and other materials ready in school for you to pick up for your children (more details about this later). There are important meetings with each Upper School class scheduled for Wednesday 6th January, when Mrs Boulton and other Upper School teachers will be talking with students about the arrangements for the coming half-term. Please ensure that your young person has accepted the invitation and attends the session: Y9 at 9.15am, Y10 at 2.00pm and Y11 at 10.15am. There will also be a Google Meet at 4pm for all the cast of Little Women when Mr Farrington will set out our plans for the production. For Middle School, form teachers will also be making arrangements as appropriate with their classes.
For the rest of this half term, Lower School will continue to provide home learning packs for Literacy, Maths and Topic, via email or post. We are also considering the introduction of Google Classroom or a similar online platform for parental use in order to enhance the delivery of the curriculum and give more opportunity for interaction between home and school.
We will be in touch again with further details .
