The History of Toys
This half term Year 1 children have been exploring the changes in toys over the last 180 years. They explored their own toys, what they looked like and what they were made from and then found out about their parents and grandparents toys as children. They played with real early 20th century and Victorian Toys. The children developed their sense of chronology by ordering toys on a timeline.
Year 1 used their five senses to explore the signs of Autumn in our school grounds today. They particularly enjoyed collecting Autumn leaves, pinecones and conkers and tasting a crisp and sweet Autumn apple. The children thought of interesting adjectives to describe the signs of Autumn that they experienced with their senses. They used these 'Wow' words to write some fantastic Autumn Poems.
