Birthday Zoom assembly and learning arrangements...
Home Learning
In line with national guidelines, CFS remains closed to the majority of pupils for the next few weeks. The earliest date the Government has indicated that classes may return is 8th March. However, this is subject to a number of factors including the prevalence of Covid-19 in the community and the effectiveness of the vaccine amongst vulnerable groups. We hope to know more after 22nd February, which is when the current policy will be reviewed by the Government.
Please be reminded that we have two staff INSET days next week (Thursday 11th and Friday 12th February) and there will be no work set for these days. This is followed by half term from Monday 15th to Friday 19th February.
We recognise that this is a very challenging time for families and would like to thank all parents for engaging with their children’s home learning. Please do let class teachers know if we can support you with specific situations, either to do with learning or in other ways. As a staff body we gather online each weekday and are actively praying for our pupils and parents.
Key Workers and ALPS
Children who have been attending school since 11th January because they have been given Key Worker/ALPS places, can again attend from tomorrow Tuesday 2nd February. Many will be aware that because of a positive Covid case in the building maintenance team, we had to close school for a few days, but we will be open again for these children from tomorrow. Please note that arrival should not be before 8.45am for a prompt 9.00am start to learning. The day at school finishes at 2.00pm, but some will continue to have Google Meets on some days once they are home.
Zoom Birthday Assembly
We are organising a Zoom Birthday Assembly/PFC meeting for the whole school community next week as we break up for INSET days and half term. It will be on Wednesday 10th February at 5.00pm for approximately 45 minutes, including chatting time at the end.
The Zoom will be an opportunity to hear from Mr Worsley as he reflects on his years of being headteacher, as well as giving some information about the plans for our leadership transition next term and beyond. It is also an opportunity to mark our school’s 40th birthday! We hope to celebrate in person all together in the summer term, but wanted to make sure that we still had our birthday assembly in February as we normally would. The assembly will take the form of Mr Worsley’s memories and thanksgiving and prayer but families could also choose to have a celebration meal afterwards.
Mental Health Awareness
For your information, 1st to 7th February is UK Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week. Lower School and Middle School children are invited to contribute to a special CFS video linked to this week. Please see their Google Classrooms or other correspondence for further details. You may find the Ollee App useful as it gives some good sensible advice about mental health and wellbeing, both for adults and children - please look here for information. In Upper School, pupils will be developing material that will be used in assemblies and displays later in the year. This will encourage good mental health habits, drawing on what has worked for them and what they can pass on to others.
New School App
We have a new school App! We hope that this facility will be really useful for everyone. You will receive a separate email explaining how to download the App in the next day or two. It will provide easy access to the school calendar, latest news and one of the most useful things will be that school can message all parents quickly through the App, both in an emergency, and to provide you with information and remind you of events.
