Broadband issues, half term and dates
School finishes on Wednesday 16th February for half term. Staff have two days of Inservice Training on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th at school, and pupils in the secondary part of the school may be set some additional homework tasks to complete over the half-term. Some Year 10 and Year 11 Art GCSE pupils have been asked to come in on Thursday through a separate letter. Everyone returns on Monday 28th February.
We have a problem with our internet connectivity and accessing our server at school. This problem arose at Friday lunchtime during a software update. The technical team have been trying to resolve the matter over the weekend and hope to prioritise reestablishing email and Google apps (ie. Google Docs, Google Classroom, Google Meets etc.) this week. During half term, we hope to restore access to our school server. Please pray for a successful resolution as soon as possible. We appreciate your support and patience at this time.
Please report positive Covid cases by email as soon as possible. Pupils in years 7 to 11 are strongly encouraged to take a Lateral Flow Test on Sunday night and Wednesday night. If your child has symptoms including a sore throat, please keep them home and book a PCR. We would still ask that other children in the household stay home if someone is positive at least until you have spoken to us at school. We will review this protocol after half term.
Dates for your Diary
- Wednesday 1st March
School photos - Year 11 and Reception class have class photos (also Year 1 as they missed this last year). And everyone else will have an individual and siblings photo. Proofs of the photos become available a week or so later and parents can choose if they would like to purchase a pack or not. The photo company donate 10% of purchase proceeds back to school in cash.
- Friday 4th March
World Book Day at CFS - pupils are encouraged to dress up as a character from a book they have enjoyed. Ideally they should bring the book into school with them and explain their choice. We would like Middle School and any Upper School pupils who wish to dress up to let their teachers know which character they are considering, as in some cases guidance may be given in terms of suitability. Please do not go to too much expense. This is supposed to be a fun, wholesome community occasion. If some pupils prefer not to dress up, this is fine and they should come to school in uniform and not their own clothes.
- Monday 7th March am
Covid jab for years 7 to 11 - these are second doses for pupils in years 7 to 11 who had their first dose in December, or a first dose for those who would like to have that now. Parents need to give online consent. Please note that if your child has had a positive Covid test in the preceding 12 weeks, they will not be able to have either a first or second dose.
- Tuesday 8th March
We are going to celebrate the school’s birthday during assembly and parents are welcome to attend. We aim to finish at approximately 9.20am.
- Tuesday 15th March, 7.15pm for 7.30pm
PFC evening for all parents and staff. This is our first in-person meeting for a long time and we plan to pray, update you about important aspects of school life. It will also be a good opportunity to get to know new families and enjoy some fellowship together. Please save the date and make this meeting a priority.
Finally please could parents who have a Reception child starting in September complete and submit their application form as soon as possible. We would be grateful to have received these when we return from half term.
With thanks for your ongoing support in every way.
