Congratulations to ex-pupil John Farrington, the winner of the Audience Favourite Award in the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge 2020. If you'd like to listen to John's entry it can be viewed here on YouTube.

 

The criterion for the song was that it had to be inspired by a piece of art (eg. sculpture, photo, painting, graffiti) exhibited in Liverpool. John chose a photo from an exhibition of Linda McCartney's photography. The photo he chose was of Paul, when a young father, walking on the pier head with daughter Stella when she was very young. It is not obvious from the photo that the father and daughter are Paul and Stella. John wrote the song imagining himself in the shoes of Stella, and imagining that this ordinary day walking on the pier head with Daddy was her favourite day.
