Head's Bulletin November 2021
Sun 31 Oct 2021As we return to school for the next half term we would like to highlight the following information and events:
PFC rescheduled to Tuesday 16th November online - time to be confirmed.
Unfortunately this in person event was cancelled due to a number of parents and staff being unwell, and we felt that it would be wise to reschedule the meeting as an online event.
Lateral Flow Tests
Please could all pupils in years 7-11 take a test, as per our reminder on the School App, before returning to school tomorrow. Both the DfE and the Liverpool City Council have asked for this measure as positive cases in the city and nationally are high.
Covid vaccines for 12-15 year olds
The school vaccination and immunisation service will offer a school based vaccination date if sufficient parents have completed the online form. Please see email and link sent out on 23rd October. However, parents can also book vaccines directly www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination or by calling 119.
Minibus drivers
We are looking for up to three parents who would be happy to drive the school minibus on Thursday mornings between 9.00am and 10.30am on a rota basis. This is to take year 3 pupils and staff to the university swimming pool. If you can help, please contact me urgently - ks@cfschool.org.uk
We will be sharing dates for Christmas events, including any Covid related arrangements, with parents by the end of the week. -
Head's Bulletin October 2021
Sat 09 Oct 2021We are emailing to inform you that we have had a number of positive cases of Covid over the last few days amongst staff, pupils and their households. This means that we are asking everyone in the community to be on the look-out for symptoms. If your children have signs of a new cold, cough, temperature, upset tummy or sickness they should stay home. We have lots of home lateral flow test kits, which we can make available to all children and their families.
Staff, volunteers and children in years 7-11 are very much encouraged to do regular twice weekly lateral flow testing even if they have no symptoms, ideally every Sunday and Wednesday evening. If anyone tests positive on lateral flow, they are expected to book a PCR test to confirm this.
For Middle School and Upper School children who need to stay off, they will be set regular work through Google Classroom. Lower School children who are well enough to do school work will be sent a pack of work to do under parental supervision.
One of our current challenges at school is that we have a number of teachers and support staff who are not in school either because they are unwell with Covid or other illness. We have taken every measure so far to cover the classes effectively and ensure that the children and young people continue with their education though this has been a challenge. A number of staff and volunteers have stepped in, and we are very grateful to them and to all staff who have been extra flexible at this time. We have also made use of our bank of supply staff to cover some classes. However, we’d like to let you know that if more staff become unwell and are not able to be in school, it may become necessary for one or more year groups to stay at home because we may not be able to provide appropriate teachers or support staff for them to operate safely. At the moment our Lower School is under particular pressure.
Please do pray for us, for provision and health, and that we should all continue to know the Lord’s protection at this time. We continue to actively seek new teaching staff who may be able offer us some supply support.
