Student Leadership Conference, Hungary ...
Tue 24 Oct 2023A key event this term in promoting our pupils’ personal growth, cultural awareness and spiritual wellbeing has been our Y11 pupils trip to Hungary to participate in the Student Leadership Conference organised by the Association of Christian Schools International. This was the first time we have been able to attend, thanks to funding secured through the government’s Turing Scheme. As a result of the scheme’s support, we were able to offer a truly inclusive opportunity to all our senior pupils - something that would have been impossible otherwise.
Through student-led group discussions, mainstage conference talks and seminars, our pupils gained skills and confidence in their ability as student leaders to effect significant change in school.
During their time away, they devised an action plan to develop the school’s Student Council, including reforming the election process.
The first part of their plan was implemented last week as they conducted interviews with each candidate for the four Y10 Rep posts on the Student Council and invited them to write a short paragraph to go on the ballot paper. This meant that when pupils cast their vote, they understood each candidate’s vision for the school’s development and their capacity to turn good ideas into realities.
As a result of this process, four new Y10 reps were elected on Friday 20th October to join the current Y11 pupils on the Student Council. We are excited to see how our new student leaders will help take on and develop initiatives in school during the coming year. Our worship assembly on Tuesday gave us the chance to pray for them all as they take up their roles.
Our Y11s were also inspired by the worship times at the conference to create more opportunities for pupils to engage on a voluntary basis in student-led praise, worship and Bible study times in school. The first lunch-time service, entirely led by the students themselves, was held last week. We look forward to seeing this initiative thrive and grow, in line with our overall school goal to further develop CFS as a Christ-centred, worshipping community.

Tue 17 Oct 2023Our next PFC (Parents and Friends Collaborative) evening is at 7.30pm on 17th October in the school hall. This is our termly gathering as a whole school community, including an opportunity to connect beyond immediate year groups, focus on key aspects of learning, discuss important updates, worship and pray. This first meeting of the school year will include an opportunity to see the newly refurbished lower school space for those who have not yet seen it.
Please do make it a priority.
We look forward to seeing you
