Full Close 26th Jan To 1st Feb...
Tue 26 Jan 2021School will be fully closed from 26th January and reopening on Tuesday 2nd February because of Covid infection amongst the building maintenance and cleaning team. Unfortunately this means closing the whole school because it impacts the whole team which needs to isolate. Therefore unfortunately it is not just a question of finding people who are willing to step in to help clean.
All pupils including those currently in school across all 4 bubbles therefore need to revert to home learning, and return to school on Tuesday 2nd February.
We are really sorry for the inconvenience that this will cause for many families. Please do keep in touch with class teachers by email or contact ks@cfschool.org.uk with any questions.
With many thanks for your continued and prayerful support.

Liverpool Acoustic
Sat 16 Jan 2021Congratulations to ex-pupil John Farrington, the winner of the Audience Favourite Award in the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge 2020. If you'd like to listen to John's entry it can be viewed here on YouTube.
The criterion for the song was that it had to be inspired by a piece of art (eg. sculpture, photo, painting, graffiti) exhibited in Liverpool. John chose a photo from an exhibition of Linda McCartney's photography. The photo he chose was of Paul, when a young father, walking on the pier head with daughter Stella when she was very young. It is not obvious from the photo that the father and daughter are Paul and Stella. John wrote the song imagining himself in the shoes of Stella, and imagining that this ordinary day walking on the pier head with Daddy was her favourite day.

Partial reopening arrangements for 11th Jan...
Fri 08 Jan 2021We'd like to provide some further information for those families whose children are coming into school from Monday 11th January because they have requested a place as key/critical workers during this time of national lockdown. All families who requested a place have been offered a place and several pupils from the ALPS register have also been invited. Thank you to all other parents who collected home learning packs and/or books today.
As mentioned previously, it is advised that any pupils in years 7-11 and staff who are working in school have a Rapid SMART (Lateral Flow) test on Saturday or Sunday before coming to school on Monday. We do not require proof of a negative test but obviously if anyone does test positive, they and their household must stay home for 10 days and inform school immediately by emailing ks@cfschool.org.uk. Please do this every weekend over the next few weeks if possible. Younger children coming into school can also be tested at your discretion. These measures are encouraged by the government to pick up any potential people who may have the virus but not be displaying any symptoms.
We understand that the Rapid (SMART) test sites in Liverpool and the Wirral are remaining open until at least the end of January and can be found here - this is a live website which indicates how busy each test site is at any given time.
Please be aware that the school day is 9.00am to 2.00pm for the pupils coming into school. Please arrive between 8.45am and 8.55am. Lower School pupils will be welcomed through the Y1 Classroom door and will wash their hands in the cloakrooms on arrival. All other pupils will wash and dry their hands using the outside sinks, then enter the building and go up to the third floor where 3 separate bubbles have been carefully organised in different rooms.
All parents of Middle School and Upper School children attending will have by now received detailed emails about the school day, including the timetable and requests for equipment and other items. Please also ensure that your children dress warmly (please see news for a reminder about uniform enhancements) and pupils must have a waterproof coat with them everyday. Pupils in years 7-11 should also have a clean mask each day. We also have an enhanced risk assessment in place which includes staff wearing masks in all communal areas and when meeting parents outside.
Finally, please be reminded not to park and leave cars on Overbury street beyond the Church.

Lockdown provision...
Tue 05 Jan 2021Following our communication on 4th January, we would like to provide a little more detail about home learning and onsite provision for specific children.
We would like to confirm that CFS is closed for most pupils until after February half term at the earliest. This is in line with the National Lockdown: Stay At Home, which was announced on 4th January by the government. Schools have now received further specific guidance setting out the reasons for school closure across the country for both primary and secondary schools.
At CFS, we will be offering onsite education at school for children of key workers, critical workers and those who have an EHC Plans in place. We are also extending this offer to some children on our ALPS (Additional Learning and Pastoral Support) register.
We emailed you about this on 4th January and have had quite a number of requests. We would like to confirm that we will be running several bubbles across the school to accommodate this need, whilst also providing home learning for everyone else. We are currently working through our plans and will be in touch with families concerned in the next couple of days. We can confirm that this provision will begin from Monday 11th January - 9am to 2pm every day. Some of the bubbles are almost at full capacity already, so we may be unable to accommodate further requests from families.
For the rest of this week, Lower School already have their home learning packs. For Upper and Middle School, Google Classroom will be used throughout this half-term to set work for all subject classes. From 6th to 8th January there may not be as many Google Meet sessions, so as to allow teachers time to get textbooks, exercise books and other materials ready in school for you to pick up for your children (more details about this later). There are important meetings with each Upper School class scheduled for Wednesday 6th January, when Mrs Boulton and other Upper School teachers will be talking with students about the arrangements for the coming half-term. Please ensure that your young person has accepted the invitation and attends the session: Y9 at 9.15am, Y10 at 2.00pm and Y11 at 10.15am. There will also be a Google Meet at 4pm for all the cast of Little Women when Mr Farrington will set out our plans for the production. For Middle School, form teachers will also be making arrangements as appropriate with their classes.
For the rest of this half term, Lower School will continue to provide home learning packs for Literacy, Maths and Topic, via email or post. We are also considering the introduction of Google Classroom or a similar online platform for parental use in order to enhance the delivery of the curriculum and give more opportunity for interaction between home and school.
We will be in touch again with further details . -
Lockdown and keyworkers...
Mon 04 Jan 2021Following the announcement from the Prime Minister on 4th January we can confirm that school will not open as normal until late February at the earliest. We will continue with home learning until schools reopen fully. We will be writing to you with details about the home learning as soon as possible and would like to assure you that we continue to be committed to all of our families throughout these weeks.
We are intending to provide a limited number of places for keyworker families and would like to know as soon as possible how many parents would require a place at school for their child(ren) in this way.
